Camino de Santiago, Day 42: Sarria to Ferreiros
We didn’t get out of Sarria until almost noon. We are sloths when we have to leave a hotel. Jamie’s hip is still not right but it’s better than it was two days ago.
The trail was relatively easy and wound through cattle farms and grassy fields. We only went 13.3 kilometers (about 8 miles). We passed the 100-kilometer marker or should I say markers…there were two 100-kilometer markers about half a kilometer apart, so take your pick!
The highlight of the day was the roasted peppers that I ordered in Ferreiros. They are served hot with lots of sea salt and the flavor (not spicy) was divine – not to mention the fact that they are green. I loved them so much (and so did every chlorophyll-loving cell in my body), that I ordered two plates. Bueno!

Those sound like Pimientos de Padrón, very typical to Galicia and my favourite. They are a gambler’s best friend as one in every so often can be scorching hot but there is no way to tell. I’m enjoying reading your journey through an area I know a little bit.
They were soooo delicious. I had them in Barcelona too but they were not nearly as good. I’ve never gotten a hot one! Thanks for reading. I love your beautiful website!
My husband came across your blog after doing research on the camino and sent it along to me, and I just spent the last hour hungrily devouring so many of your posts. My husband and I are doing the camino in October, and your reflections of it thus far have made me so incredibly excited to see what adventures this journey will hold for us. I laughed out loud at your depiction of the crazy warden in Villadangos, and I’ve just loved all of your stories. I am so happy to have discovered you and your blog, and look forward to hearing about the rest of your trip 🙂
Thanks Serena! I love the idea of you laughing in San Francisco, my hometown! You have every reason to be excited. It is amazing. As the date comes any closer, if you have any questions feel free to write and I’ll do my best to answer. And if you ever need a housesitter…:)
