Cala Figuera, Mallorca

Cala Figuera is a small fishing village in Southeast Mallorca.

Calla Figuera is in the southeast of Mallorca.  It’s a tiny town that is sleepy throughout the year and swells with tourists (mostly German) in the Summer months.  It’s most notable and spectacular features are the inlets from the sea filled with crystal clear blue water and fishing boats.  It is called the “Venice of Mallorca” for this reason.  We had a very relaxing five days here and can’t recommend it enough as a place to getaway from the crowds of tourists and the stress of life.  It’s easy to spend a few hours doing nothing but enjoying the sun, a cappuccino and your company beside the sparkling water.  We saw thousands of pink jellyfish in the water so I wouldn’t swim there. If you’re inclined towards hiking, there are so many trails along the coast to enjoy, like we did.  It’s a good base station too because there are buses that leave every morning at 9 AM for several destinations including Palma.  We also found it less expensive than Cala Rajada to the north.  We stayed at Hostal Marblau which was extremely nice for the low season rate of 35 euros a night.
